VEJA X Marimekko

Marimekko and VEJA launch a limited-edition collaboration collection featuring two VEJA sneaker models: the Salar for adults and the Small Canary for kids. Both sneakers bring a pop of colour with the floral Popkorni print designed by Antti Kekki.

Only the VEJA Salar sneaker for adults will be available on marimekko.ca, launching November 12.

Since 2005, VEJA has been creating sneakers in a different way, mixing social projects, economic justice and ecological materials. VEJA uses Brazilian and Peruvian organic cotton for the canvas and laces, Amazonian rubber for the soles, and various innovative materials made from recycled plastic bottles or recycled polyester.

Together, Marimekko and VEJA share a commitment to a thoughtful design that is made to last and bring joy to everyday life.

Popkorni, designed by Antti Kekki (2024)

True to its name, the Popkorni print is full of joy and playfulness. The cheerful shapes, painted by Antti Kekki through paper-cutting, resemble little fluttering flowers whose lively movement evokes summer parties brimming with life and sound. The Finnish name of the design means "popcorn."

Antti Kekki is a Helsinki-based illustrator and surface designer, who enjoys bold colours, improvisation and handicraft. His works usually rely on simple collage technique in which different forms are cut from paper and carefully arranged in playful ensembles. Antti has been collaborating with Marimekko since 2019.
